This safari begins with a scenic drive from Arusha to the Ndutu region of the southern Serengeti, the heart of the wildebeest calving season. As you journey across the vast plains, you’ll experience breathtaking landscapes teeming with wildlife. Look forward to seeing large herds of wildebeest, zebras and predators drawn to the migration. You will stay at the comfortable Kontiki Migration Camp, ideally situated within the migration corridor.
You will explore the Ndutu Plain, which is famous for its wildebeest calving season between January and March. With thousands of newborn calves, the area becomes a prime hunting ground for predators such as lions, cheetahs and hyenas – ensuring dramatic wildlife sightings. nitoursandsafaris ensures you don’t miss a thing, from huge herds to thrilling encounters between predator and prey. After a game drive in Ndutu, the journey continues to the world-famous central Serengeti. This area, known for its year-round wildlife and distinctive kopjes, is home to big cats, elephants, giraffes and a diverse array of birdlife. From open grasslands to rocky outcrops, it offers spectacular photo opportunities. Enjoy the authentic bush atmosphere during an overnight stay at the Golden Safari Camp.
The day begins with a morning safari in the central Serengeti, after which you’ll drive through the park towards the Ngorongoro Highlands. The drive is an experience in itself, offering opportunities to spot wildlife along the way. Upon arrival in the lush highlands, you’ll be greeted by the cooler climate, the green landscapes and the view over the vast Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This evening, relax at the cosy Ngorongoro Safari Lodge and prepare for tomorrow’s exploration of the crater.
You descend 600 metres into the Ngorongoro Crater, often referred to as the "eighth wonder of the world". The crater floor is home to over 25,000 animals, including lions, black rhinos, elephants and countless flamingos. After a rewarding game drive and a picnic lunch, you will begin your return journey to Arusha, bringing to an end a spectacular safari that has taken you through the wildebeest calving season and the wonders of Tanzania’s Northern Circuit.
