On arrival, nitoursandsafaris will welcome you and take you to your hotel in Arusha. After checking in and a short rest, you’ll set off on a leisurely city tour, visiting key sights such as the Maasai Market, the Arusha Clock Tower and the Natural History Museum. You’ll also have the chance to visit local cafés or a cultural centre to discover Tanzanian arts and crafts. In the evening, you will return to your hotel for dinner and to rest before your safari begins.
Today you will visit Tarangire National Park, a stunning, wild landscape renowned for its ancient baobab trees and huge herds of elephants. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a game drive in the park, where you may spot giraffes, wildebeest, zebras, lions and many other animals. With over 500 recorded species, Tarangire National Park is also a paradise for birdwatchers. Enjoy a picnic in the park before continuing your exploration.
Immediately after an early breakfast, you’ll set off on a scenic drive through the Ngorongoro Highlands towards Serengeti National Park, Tanzania’s most famous safari destination. You’ll pass through traditional Maasai territory and stop at vantage points before reaching the vast plains of the Serengeti. Enjoy the wildlife viewing and take in the incredible vastness of the landscape, which is often dotted with giraffes, gazelles and big cats.
Rise with the sun and set off on an exciting day of wildlife spotting in the Serengeti. The park teems with wildlife all year round, and depending on the season, you can witness the Great Migration, as millions of wildebeest and zebras move across the plains. Your guide will lead game drives in the morning and afternoon in search of the ‘Big Five’ – lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards and rhinos – as well as cheetahs, hyenas, jackals and other animals. Between game drives, you’ll enjoy lunch in the bush or at camp, followed by a short break before setting off again to observe the wildlife in the golden evening light.
Morning game drive in the Serengeti followed by a hearty breakfast, then a drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area through the highlands, where there will be further opportunities to spot wildlife along the way. In the late afternoon, you’ll reach the rim of the crater, just in time to enjoy a breathtaking view of the caldera from above. Stops along the way include a visit to a Maasai village or the famous archaeological site of Olduvai Gorge.
Early in the morning, you will drive to the Ngorongoro Crater. Enjoy an exciting game drive on the crater floor, home to black rhinos, lions, hippos, hyenas, elephants, flamingos and many other animals. With its lush grasslands, wooded areas and soda lake, the crater offers some of the best wildlife viewing opportunities in Africa. After a picnic by the hippo pool, we climb back up out of the crater and make our way back to Arusha.
