From Materuni to the Kuringe Waterfalls. This hike is ideal for anyone who wants to experience Kilimanjaro without actually climbing it! From Materuni, Nitor Sand Safaris will accompany you on a beautiful, approximately 40-minute hike to the impressive 70-metre-high waterfall. At an altitude of 2,500 metres, the trail winds through valleys and tropical rainforests, offering stunning views of plantations brimming with coffee, bananas and avocados.
Your first proper game drive in Arusha National Park begins today! This park, located near Arusha, is renowned for its abundance of tropical birds, the black-and-white colobus monkeys that live there, and some rare albino baboons. You may spot the colobus monkeys and rare bird species such as the magnificent silver-cheeked hornbill. With a bit of luck, you might even spot an albino. The park also features a lake, several craters, waterfalls, mountains and beautiful grassy plains.
Tarangire National Park is famous for its large herds of elephants and countless giant baobab trees. These trees can live for hundreds of years and even serve as a source of water for the elephants during the dry season, as the elephants have developed a special technique for sucking water from them. Furthermore, the Tarangire River is the only source of water during the dry season, which is why, at this time of year, you can spot groups of up to 250 elephants alongside many other animals in Tarangire!
Lake Manyara National Park is situated between Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater, right on the edge of the 400-metre-deep Great African Rift Valley. The park boasts a diverse landscape and a wealth of wildlife. You are welcome to visit the lake, hike through a dense rainforest teeming with hundreds of monkeys and birds, observe elephants at close quarters, and visit the famous Manyara hippo pool, where numerous hippos bathe from dawn to dusk.
If you love cycling tours, you’ll be in your element here. During a stop at a Maasai village, you’ll learn a lot about their culture and customs.
Lake Natron, situated just above the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in northern Tanzania, is a unique place. It has a striking red hue, is alkaline and a paradise for photographers. This is especially true from August to October, when thousands of flamingos make the lake even more pink. The intense heat over the dry, dusty landscape, the mirror-smooth lake and the surrounding volcanic mountains create a rugged and surreal beauty that is always a delight to capture on camera!
The Serengeti National Park, renowned for its safaris, is by far the ideal destination for many holidaymakers, primarily because of the Great Migration, the vast, impressive stampeding herds, as well as the large number of predators that live here: over four thousand lions, around 200 cheetahs, a thousand leopards, thousands of hyenas and hundreds of wild dogs!
The unique Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa’s seven natural wonders. The crater was formed long ago by the eruption of a massive volcano. The fertile lava has created a unique ecosystem, which today boasts the highest concentration of wildlife in Africa! As soon as you enter the crater, you find yourself surrounded by thousands of animals such as lions, zebras, buffalo and black rhinos, and the view is breathtaking.
This hike takes you once again through countless stunning landscapes, surrounded by wildlife.
A visit to Lake Eyasi and the Hadzabe tribe living there makes for a fascinating day trip. The lake is a seasonal, shallow salt lake south of the Ngorongoro Highlands and a paradise for birdwatchers. Watch hippos in the shallow water, then grab your binoculars and mobile phone to snap photos of spoonbills, flamingos, grey-headed gulls, pink pelicans and black-and-white avocets. Afterwards, visit the masters of bow hunting – the Hadzabe Bushmen.
The final day! You can relax a little longer at the lodge before being taken to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), from where you will catch your flight home.
