Tented Lodge 8 Days From $3700 pP

This tented and lodge tour takes you through Tanzania, visiting Lake Manyara, the Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater and the Tarangire National Park. The tour is designed so that guests are usually accommodated in standard lodges or tented camps either within or outside the national parks. This is a suggested itinerary or example of a safari route in Tanzania. It can be adapted to your personal preferences or to seasonal changes and the animals’ migration patterns. As with all our Tanzanian adventure safaris, tours, holiday trips and travel packages.

Details

On arrival at the airport, you will be warmly welcomed by nitoursandsafaris and taken to Arusha, where you will spend the rest of your stay. You can spend the rest of the day relaxing by the pool or exploring the town of Arusha.

ACCOMMODATION:

Tumbili Lodge
After breakfast, you will begin your safari with a drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Established in 1960, the small Lake Manyara National Park is home to tree-climbing lions, elephants and large groups of baboons and monkeys. The park is dominated by the shallow, alkaline lake and offers a variety of habitats, including grassy plains, steep slopes and woodland. Hundreds of bird species gather here, including, in particular, thousands of pink flamingos. In addition to the impressive landscape, you will have the opportunity to spot giraffes, buffalo, hippos, wildebeest and the comical warthogs. The safari vehicle has an open roof and is the ideal viewing platform from which to admire and photograph the nature and wildlife of this park. In the late afternoon, you will leave the park and drive to the lodge where you will spend the night.

ACCOMMODATION:

Lake Manyara Tortilis Camp
Get up, let’s go! After an early breakfast, you’ll drive down the steep road into the crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact, non-flooded caldera and is home to an incredible variety of wildlife. As well as zebras and wildebeest, you may also spot the rare black rhino and other members of the ‘Big Five’ (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard). The crater is also home to other animals such as hyenas, waterbucks, bushbucks, elands and more than 400 species of birds. After an extensive game drive and a picnic lunch, you will leave the caldera in the early afternoon and drive overnight to the Serengeti.

ACCOMMODATION:

Ngorongoro Wild Camp
On this day, you will head towards the plains of the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania’s largest national park. The Serengeti offers a diverse landscape of short-grass plains, savannah, dense bush, swamps and lakes, and is famous for the annual migration, during which hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebras traverse the landscape in search of fresh grass and water. On the way to your accommodation, you will understand where the word Serengeti (meaning ‘plain’ in the Maasai language) comes from. You will spend both days on a game drive in the Serengeti National Park. During the short rainy season in November and December, the herds migrate from the hills in the north to the plains in the south, whilst during the longer rainy season from April to June, they migrate back north again. This cycle of life is determined by the rainfall, and the herds’ whereabouts can vary from year to year, but nitoursandsafaris knows where to find the animals and where best to observe them. A visit to the Serengeti Visitor Centre is also possible. Here you can learn more about the history of the park and the research work of the Frankfurt Zoological Society. You will spend three nights in the tented camps.

ACCOMMODATION:

Tukaone Serengeti Camps
After breakfast, you will continue your safari in Serengeti National Park. In the Seronera Valley, you may be lucky enough to spot predators hunting, as the animals gather at the waterholes during the dry season. After lunch at a picnic spot, you will drive leisurely via Ngorongoro towards Tarangire, arriving at the lodge in the late evening for the night.

ACCOMMODATION:

Tarangire View Tented Lodge
After breakfast, you will head to Tarangire National Park. It is best known for its herds of elephants, the savannah, the baobab trees, the seasonal swamps and the life-giving Tarangire River. The animals gather by the river, and giraffes, bushbucks and hartebeests are often spotted. The park is also home to buffalo, zebras and wildebeest, which are constantly pursued by a range of predators such as lions. Leopards are occasionally spotted, whilst cheetahs are rarely seen. From the open roof of the vehicle, you can enjoy the landscape and observe the animals. In the late afternoon, you will leave the park and drive to Arusha, where you will spend the night.
First, enjoy one last leisurely breakfast, then you will be taken to the airport to begin your journey home.
